Last week, news brokethatMeghan MarkleandPrince Harrywere involved in a two-hour car chase with paparazzi inNew YorkCity.#
At the time, a spokesperson for Meghan and Harry claimed that the chase “resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers.”#
The spokesperson also referred to the incident as “near catastrophic” and referred to the pursuers as “a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi.”#
Some, includingNYC mayor Eric Adams, drew parallels to the 1997 death of Harry’s mother,Princess Diana, after being chased by paparazzi.#
Others have apparently claimed that Meghan and Harry exaggerated how serious the chase actually was — and now the couple is responding to those claims.#
“Respectfully, considering the Duke’s family history, one would have to think nothing of the couple or anybody associated with them to believe this was any sort of P.R. stunt,” Meghan and Harry’s spokesperson, Ashley Hansen, told theNew York Times.#
“Quite frankly, I think that’s abhorrent.”#
