“ When the social spiritualist affair come out , nobody knew what that was going to become … If we had bang back in the day just how chaotic it would make lifespan , I do n’t mean we would ’ve done it . ”
Back in 2015,AyeshaandSteph Curry’sthen-two-year-old daughter,Riley Curry, went viral afterstealing the spotlightat one of her dad’s press conferences.#
The now-viral moment occurred after Steph’s basketball team, the Golden State Warriors, won the Western Conference Finals opener over the Houston Rockets. When Steph sat down to answer a series of questions from the press, Riley was quick to run over and sit on his lap, where she proceeded to makeseveral impromptu remarksduring the conference.#
And Riley’s internet fame was perhaps bolstered by the fact that both Steph and Ayesha constantlyreminded fans of her bold personalitybyposting cute photos and videosof her to their Instagram pages.#
However, four years later, Steph admitted that he actually massively regretted thrusting Riley into the public eye by having her join him for that memorable 2015 press conference.#
Speaking withAndscapein February 2019, Steph said, “One thing I do technically regret in terms of how fast this all came is when I brought Riley on the podium.”#
“I’ve always wanted to… share what I get to do, and all the experiences I have, with my family,” he went on. “I didn’t know how much that would blow up and how much of a splash she [would make] on the scene.”#
“If I could take that one back, I probably would, just because my goal is just to… give my kids the best chance at success and at seeing the world in the proper way,” he added. “Trying to give our kids the best chance to be successful and have a normal life in terms of treating people the right way, having respect, not getting too bigheaded and feeling like everything’s about them.”#
Today, Riley is 10, and Steph and Ayesha are also parents to seven-year-old Ryan and four-year-old Canon. The kids do not have social media accounts of their own, but photos of them are still frequently shared on their parents’ pages.#
“When the social media thing started, nobody knew what that was going to become,” she began.#
“If we had known back in the day just how chaotic it would make life, I don’t think we would’ve done it,” she admitted. “But we were just genuinely living our lives back then. And we thought, ‘This is our kid. We’re bringing our kid along.’”#
Ayesha went on to note that she’s now more determined to keep her kids out of the public eye, before explaining how the COVID-19 pandemic massively inspired this decision.#
