Earlier this year, Universalannouncedit was bringing new life to one of Dreamworks' most popular animated properties.
That’s right —How to Train Your Dragonis headed back to the big screen, this time as a live-action adaptation.
For those who don’t know, the animated trilogy, based on the books by Cressida Cowell, follow a boy named Hiccup and his dragon Toothless.
No details about the plot of the live-action version have been released, though it’s likely it’ll follow the events of the original movie.
Here’s everything we do know about the upcoming adaptation so far:

The character was originally voiced by America Ferrera.
So far there’s been no word on whether any of the original voice cast might make a cameo in the new film, though I’m sure fans would love to see them pop up.
This isn’t Parker’s first live-action remake of an animated movie. She appeared alongside Danny DeVito and Colin Farrell in 2019’sDumbo.
Dean DeBlois, who wrote and directed the originalHow to Train Your Dragontrilogy,will write, direct, and producethe live-action adaptation.
Original trilogy composer John Powellis returningfor the new movie as well.
Finally, it’s currentlyset to hit theatersMarch 14, 2025 — almost 15 years to the day after the original film did.
