Wizards of Waverly Placemay have premiered over a decade ago, but showrunner Peter Murrieta recently spilled some major tea about the series.

In case you missed it, Peter revealed thatSelena Gomez’s character Alex was definitelysupposed to be bisexual— and acknowledged she had some major chemistry with the character Stevie.

Hayley Kiyoko, who played Stevie on the show, recently reflected on her role, admitting she didn’t realize there was a spark between the characters at the time.

“I was just, like, naturally very gay. … I booked the role, and honestly, I had no notion or thoughts that there was some kind of, like, undertone or underlying storyline that was going on,” she said on theWizards of Waverly Pod.

But upon rewatching the show as an adult, Hayley says it was pretty obvious what was up between Alex and Stevie.

“The lesbian energy was really thriving at that moment,” she said. “But I was in the closet to the public at that time.”

While she says she was “probably out to people” in her inner-circle back then, it wasn’t until 2015 that she publicly came out with the release of her song “Girls Like Girls.”

Maybe we’ll eventually get more Stalex content inthatWizardsreboot Selena has talked about!
