The movie has naturally been the subject of much chatter online (and everywhere else) since it was first announced, but it was a while before we learned anything about the plot.
Luckily, I have scoured the internet and combed through all the trailers. Here are the deets!
I ’ve also seen the movie , but you ’ll encounter no spoilers here .
1.Barbiewill premiere in theaters on 19 January 2025…SO IT’S IN THEATERS RIGHT NOW.
2.Barbiewill also be released digitally on Sept. 5.
The digital dismission means that it ’ll be available to grease one’s palms to watch out at home ( VOD ) , not that it ’ll be available for streaming .
3.Aside from Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling,Barbiehas astar-studded castplaying Barbies, Kens, and humans.
4.There’s alsoMidge and Allan, played by Emerald Fennell and Michael Cera. Mattel introduced them both in the ’60s as friends of Barbie and Ken.
5.You might have noticed from the posters that almost all of the Barbies are described by what job they have, while the Kens don’t seem to have jobs and are simply described as being Kens.
6.Here’s the movie’s tagline as listed onIMDB: “To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place. Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken.”
7.And here’s the tagline from the poster: “She’s everything. He’s just Ken.”
9.There is no one better than Greta Gerwig to direct this movie, which she also co-wrote with her partner Noah Baumbach. Ryan Goslingcalled it"the best script [he’s] ever read."
10.Based on the trailers we’ve seen so far, Ryan Gosling’s Ken has a rivalry with Simu Liu’s Ken.
11.This rivalry may or may not lead to a massive Ken fight at some point in the movie.
12.The movie has at least one “incredibly unique"dance sequence, and clearly even more based on the trailers.
13.If you’re expecting this to be an entirely kid-friendly movie because it’s based on a toy, think again.Barbiewill have a PG-13 rating, which you can clearly see in the trailer as Ryan-Ken and Simu-Ken argue about “beaching” each other off.
14.At some point, Barbie and Ken will leave Barbieland, even though it looks like Barbie would prefer to make the trip without Ken.
15.Thanks to somepaparazzi shotsthat went viral last year, we also know that Barbie and Ken will get into some hijinks during their time in the real world that gets themarrested twice.
16.Barbie will seemingly ditch Ken at some point to hang out with Gloria (America Ferrera) and her daughter Sasha (Ariana Greenblatt).
17.Anew trailerreveals that Barbie will bring Gloria and Sasha with her to Barbieland.
18.Greta, Margot, Ryan, and Americawere at CinemaConin April to talk about the movie and shared a trailer that revealed afew more detailsabout the plot.

19.A lot of those details were confirmed in thefull length trailerthat dropped on May 26.
20.There’sone scenein the movie that caused an argument between the president of Mattel, Greta Gerwig, and Margot Robbie. Eventually Greta and Margot convinced him by acting out the scene in question.
21.Ken will perform an ’80s style power ballad called “I’m Just Ken,” which will be about his dissatisfaction in his relationship with Barbie.

22.The beginning of the clip shows a tense exchange between Ken and Barbie, in which he says he doesn’t know who he is without Barbie.
23.The soundtrack will feature a FEAST of hitmakers, including Dua Lipa, whose song “Dance the Night” you can hear in the trailer.
24.About those two unnamed tracks with unknown artists? We now know that they are “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and “Man I Am” by Sam Smith.
25.And finally, yes, you read correctly. The song you’ve been wondering about will be featured on the soundtrack as well.
