Let ’s do away with this trope , please .

The Nice Guy has got to be one of my least favorite tropes…especially because it’s so prevalent in real life. I don’t know why some men think they’re owed sex or romantic interest because they’re not actively acting like an asshole (at least to start; their assholery always comes out in the end), but TBH it’s really gross.

I absolutely cannot stand this character inromantic comedies…because they always seem to end up getting the girl in the end, sending out this really damaging message to everyone that being the Nice Guy works, and women really are secretly into them! Here are 17 examples that make me want to gag.

Ted keeps getting turned down after making several advancements and then asks if it would be cool to have sex with her

Peter tells his ex that he wishes she tried and she syas, oh i tried, peter. i talked to a therapist, i talked to my mother, i took love seminars, i took sex seminars none of it made a difference to you

Cal's hookup is his son's teacher and at parent-teacher conference she lists reasons why he's an asshole while Cal's ex-wife is there too and he tries to brush it off by calling the teacher an alcoholic. she screams at him sayin she's sober five years

Wally apologizing and making excuses in long speech to kasssie and then ending it by saying, i love you

Denis declaring his love for beth during his speech at their high school graduatoin

Tim using his knowledge of her like for Kate Moss to seduce her into a date

Ronald telling his crush that he won't change with popularity and then in the next scene looking and acting different

Duckie saying, i can't belive you'd be this stupid. he's gonna use your ass and then throw you away. god, i would die for you. you can't do this and respect yourself

matthew watching from his bedroom window as his neighbor undresses

Scott's girlfriend saying she wants to invite him over for dinner to meet her parents and he says, for chinese food? are you even allowed to date outside your race?

Cameron teling Bianca that just because she's beautiful she can't treat people like they don't matter even though he's been using Patrick to date Bianca's sister and treating the sister like she doesn't matter

Joanna realizing that dean tricked her

man about to kiss a woman and she gasps and says, you're that nerd!  god you were wonderful
