It’s been pretty amazing to see all the Asian and Pacific Islander representation on screen as of late, especially being raised with Filipino roots.
With that said, I want to know if there’s a certain AAPI TV or movie character who made you feel seen. If so, tell me all about it!
Maybe you related to Devi’s unique mother-daughter relationship inNever Have I Ever. She was the first-generation daughter of Indian immigrants in the show, and you may have gone through similar things with your parents at home. But seeing the love between Devi and her mom made you appreciate your parents more.
Perhaps you were stoked to seeMoanabecome Disney’s first-ever Polynesian princess. The showcasing of Pacific culture was an added bonus for you and your family, too.
Or, maybe you truly felt like you saw yourself in Shang-Chi. His character was featured in the first Asian superhero movie in theMCU, and you couldn’t have been more proud than to see someone who finally looked like you in a role like that.
