1.Let’s start at the beginning. Sam’s toast at his and Emma’s engagement party is so sweet and earnest. He really has loved Emma for so many years and loves her more every day!
2.The adorable way he leans his head on the door as he checks on Emma.
3.When he’s worried that he might lose his fiancé to another man and yet still prioritizes her feelings about the situation.
4.When he gives Emma “the Sam Lee special,” which is just a hot shower and a hug.
5.When he made Emma a dairy-free grilled cheese even though he didn’t know if she’d be with Jesse all night.
6.When he admits that he saw Emma and Jesse kiss on TV because even though his fiancé is kissing another man, he doesn’t want to keep anything from her.
7.The way he gently kisses Emma’s hair to comfort her.
8.This steamy makeout sesh.
9.The way he just plops her on the counter like that…
10.When he gives Emma full permission to explore with Jesse, because once again he prioritizes her happiness.
11.When he gives Emma her box of Jesse memories EVEN THOUGH THAT MIGHT PUSH HER INTO HIS ARMS??
12.This is a big one. He wants to send Emma a message of support but he thinks about it for a while! He doesn’t want to come off as needy or manipulative. He finally settles on, “I hope you’re doing okay.”
13.When he encourages his students to fight the patriarchy.
14.This really sums it up. Emma’s feelings are No. 1 in Sam’s eyes!!

16.Basically all the scenes with his students are adorable. He’s dropping emotional intelligence bombs right and left.
17.Let’s move on to the flashbacks of Emma and Sam’s relationship. The meet-cute in the music store when he pretends to work there is expert-level flirting!

19.Clock the DOUBLE look-back as he leaves the bookstore. This man is in DEEP y’all…

21.The proposal is another key moment. He knows she’s still grieving Jesse but he still wanted to make a big gesture. So he gives her the ring and leaves it in her hands if she ever wants to get married again.
22.Naturally, Emma proposes that same night. And his face!
23.Later, Sam rushes to find Emma and fight for her.
24.We all just want to be loved as much as Sam loves Emma.
25.Also, even while knowing he was extremely emotionally mature and respectful throughout this entire impossible situation, he stays humble!
26.In conclusion, get you a man like Sam who respects your emotional journey and prioritizes your happiness. But will also still love you even if you hit him with your car.
