The pair, whotied the knotlast summer — havingrekindled their romanceafter two decades — looked super cozy on the red carpet throughout the majority of the night, even sharing a steamy kiss in front of the cameras.
But one particular moment from the premiere ended up taking the internet by storm.
In several photos circulating across social media, Ben and Jen appear super tense while posing on the red carpet.
Both Ben and Jen could be seen gesturing emphatically with their hands as they conversed face-to-face, with news outletDaily Loudsuggesting in a now-viral tweet that they were arguing.
Before long, several fans expressed their thoughts on the seemingly awkward exchange.
“He’s already sick and tired of her,” one personwrote. “She stressing him out lol,” another usertweeted.
In fact, some users went so far as to quip that they “saw this coming,” thanks to the couple’sawkward car door–slamming mishapearlier this week.
Just a day before the photos of Ben and Jen at theMotherpremiere surfaced, the couple were filmed looking pretty unhappy as they strolled back from grabbing a coffee.
In the clip, which you can watchin full here, Ben can be seen looking pretty fed up as he walks ahead of Jen toward their car. He then opens up the passenger door for her, only to slam it the moment she’s seen getting comfortable in her seat.
Ben can then be seen swinging his arm as he walks over to the driver’s side before making eye contact with the person filming and raising his hand as if to question them.
The awkward video ended upsparking a whole conversationabout Ben’s demeanor, with many internet users labeling him “miserable” and “tired.”
And bringing this into view now, some fans suggested that Ben and Jen’s awkward red carpet moment was bound to happen after the car door drama.
“The sequel to this from yesterday,” someonetweetedalongside a clip of Ben slamming the door. “She still mad at him for almost not opening that door,” another personquipped.
However, it turns out that Ben and Jen actually weren’t arguing on the red carpet at all — at least according to an “expert” lip reader cited by theDaily Mail.
According to the lip reader, Jen was seemingly trying to avoid a wardrobe malfunction, simply asking Ben if her low-cut top was “showing too much.” And then the pair were apparently discussing how to pose before the cameras.
What’s more, thefull clipof the couple on the carpet — as well as all the other photos taken that night — suggest that things were more than fine between them. Ben and Jen can be seen smiling and cuddling closely before apparently speaking about how to pose and gesturing with their hands.
