Joshua JacksonandJodie Turner-Smithwill celebrate their fourthwedding anniversarythis year, but — believe it or not — before meeting Jodie, Joshua had no interest in marriage.
During a recent interview withthe Times, Joshua revealed how Jodie changed his outlook on life, particularly his feelings toward relationships and having children.
“If we had met five years earlier, we probably would have had a torrid affair,” Joshua said about Jodie, who he met at a charity event in 2018.
Once they started dating, Joshua revealed they found ways to “spend every moment together and find reasons to be in other cities together at the same time.”
All that time together eventually led to Jodieproposingto Joshua during a vacation in Nicaragua. “I don’t know if she planned it or if it was a spur-of-the-moment thing, but out popped a proposal I was not expecting, and the organic and instinctive answer was yes.”
They exchanged vows in 2019 and welcomed ababy girlin 2020.The Affairstar admitted both of those things were the furthest from his mind before meeting Jodie.
“Six months [after the proposal], she was pregnant and we were on our way. And now we have this beautiful baby who is literally the manifestation of that love. It is impossible for me to look into the face of my child without feeling love for my wife.”
“All the rest of this stuff, I was just not ready. I didn’t think I ever wanted to get married.”
“Partially, it’s age,” Joshua said. “I’m old enough to be able to do this. Partially, it’s about finding somebody in the right moment of life.”
