Obviously, you know thatJoJo Siwapubliclycame out as gayway back in January 2021.

JoJo broke the news on TikTok at the time, and during a recent interview withE! News, she revealed that social media actually made it easier for her to come out.

“Just getting social media for me, it actually gave me a safe space when I came out,” she explained. JoJo also said that she “knew that even if everyone around [her] didn’t support [her] that there was gonna be people online that did."

“And I knew that I was gonna find those people and I was really excited about that,” she added. “I always told myself it was gonna be easier to come out online than it was in person.”

She continued, “And I do believe that’s very true.”

JoJo also reflected on finding her own voice amid the constant hum of social media, and how she’s made her own community in a space that can sometimes be quite toxic.

“It’s been fun to be able to figure out what ways I get to be a part of that," she said. “You know what I mean? How I fit into the piece of the puzzle there.”
