Justin has not acknowledged the backlash beleaguer his dad ’s offensive tweets .
Justin Bieber’s dad has issued a half-hearted apology after being faced with intense backlash over an anti-LGBTQ post he shared earlier this week.
On Wednesday, the 48-year-old tweeted his thoughts on Pride Month, suggesting that people in the LGBTQ community should express gratitude to straight people.
“Don’t forget to thank a straight person this month for your existence,” the message read over a photo of a rainbow flag.
The week prior to this, he tweeted that people “need to celebrate families,” adding: “U know the reason we’re all here! The things this generation glorifies is unbelievable!”
We need to lionise families . U know the reason we ’re all here ! The thing this multiplication glorifies is unbelievable !
Wednesday’s tweet has since been deleted. However, it was live long enough to cause some seriousbacklashonline, with many calling out the anti-gay subtext to the message, which wrongly suggests that people in the LGBTQ community are unable to have children.
The criticism came thick and fast, particularly from Justin’s fans — many of whom noted the irony in Jeremy’s emphasis on “families” when it’s known that he was not entirely present inJustin’s upbringing.
“stop trying to be homophobic with this argument that seems to defend ‘traditional family’ you were not even a good father to justin, maybe you should worry about justin’s daddy issues, what a hypocrisy,” oneperson tweeted.
stop trying to be homophobic with this debate that seems to defend " tradicional family " you were not even a good male parent to justin , mayhap you should worry about justin ’s daddy issues , what a hypocrisy
“bro, you literally left your girlfriend with your child and just remember then when Justin became famous…please…if i have to thank straight people like you i prefer not ✌️” echoedsomeone else.
bro , you literally leave your girl with your child and just commemorate then when Justin became noted … please … if i have to give thanks square hoi polloi like you i prefer not ✌ ️
So, with the backlash mounting online, it wasn’t long before Jeremy returned to Twitter in an attempt to defend himself.
“Acknowledging the nuclear family is offensive?” he questioned inanother tweet. “My apologies to those offended. Was not my intent. Not that my opinion matters.”
Acknowledging the nuclear family is dysphemistic ? My apologies to those go against . Was not my intent . Not that my opinion weigh .
In light of the sarcastic tone, it’d be a stretch to say this suffices as an apology — and it seems his critics weren’t satisfied either as fans doubled down on their outrage in the replies.
“you definitely knew you were being disrespectful and still posted it..,” one personresponded.
you emphatically knew you were being disrespectful and still posted it ..
“It’s how you acknowledged it + the timing… you can acknowledge the ‘nuclear family’ without the homophobic undertones,” addedanother. “It’s also uninformed of you to imply that straight people are the only ones capable of having ‘nuclear families’”
It ’s how you acknowledged it + the timing … you could admit the “ nuclear crime syndicate ” without the homophobic undertones . It ’s also uninformed of you to imply that straight mass are the only ace open of having “ nuclear families ”
An influx of fans also replied with a picture that read: “Don’t forget to thank Justin Bieber this month for your paid bills.”
