He was interviewing on the red carpet at the National Night of Laughter and Song, when an excitedKeshaapproached him, told him she was a big fan, and reached out, asking if she could embrace him.
“No thanks,” Jerry said firmly, raising his hand in a stop gesture.
“Please?” Kesha asked. Jerry repeated, “No thanks,” before moving away from Kesha as she continued to try and touch him. Eventually, she stopped trying and ran off, whimpering, as Jerry told the reporter, “I don’t know who that was.”
Well, Kesha recently reflected on their interaction and called it the “saddest moment” of her life. She said it was especially hurtful because she had been such a fan of Jerry’s since theSeinfelddays.
“When it got bumpy on planes, I’d pop inSeinfeldand I’d be like, ‘Everything’s OK in the world’ and watch my buddy,” she shared on thepodcastThe Best Show with Tom Scharpling.
“Then, I get to the fucking charity event, and I got really excited because he brings me peace and love and all things good in the universe, and then he didn’t hug me in front of cameras,” she continued.
Kesha said: “It was the most depressing and hilarious, but also so sad — it was, like, the saddest moment of my life.”
When Jerry was previouslyaskedabout the moment, he told Extra he didn’t have anything against Kesha — he just doesn’t hug people he doesn’t know. “I’m sure I would’ve liked her, but I need to know who are you," he laughed.
