Hi, yes, hello. So, one of the most anticipated shows of the summer is probablyAnd Just Like That…Season 2. ‘Cause, let’s be honest, we all could not look away from the chaos and drama that unfolded in Season 1.
Set 11 years after the secondSex and the Cityfilm, the new revival series found Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) still living it up in NYC, still beingbest friends, and still getting into some of the most wild situations that we all can’t help but love.
While the series was met with mixed reviews, it was simplymust-watchTV, and it gave us some of the most jaw-dropping plot twists and moments. However, while it’s great to see Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte again, it was hard not to notice the big hole left byKim Cattrall’s absence as THE ICONIC Samantha Jones.
Kim’s absence from the revival series came after years ofreported tensionbetween Kim and the rest of the cast. Kim has described her former costars as “toxic,” and alleged off-screen tension surrounding a thirdSex and the Citymovie, which Kimturned downin 2017, made everyone stop and look at what was really happening behind the scenes.
Kim and, namely, SJP havegone back and forth for years, with Kim saying that she and the other women were “never friends, just colleagues,” while SJP replied, “I found it very upsetting. That’s not the way I recall our experience.” Everything was very public, very messy, and ultimately led to Kim not being asked to return for the new series.
When asked about why she sat outAnd Just Like That…, Kimtold Variety, “I was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did — on social media.”
Meanwhile, SJP confirmed Kim was not asked back,noting, “She made it clear that that wasn’t something she wanted to pursue, and it no longer felt comfortable for us, and so it didn’t occur to us.”
That’s all to say, the first season of theSex and the Cityrevival came and went, with Samantha’s absence, which was explained when Carrie talked about Samantha moving to London and how the duo had a falling out.
Then, in theAnd Just Like That…Season 1 finale, while in Paris, Carrie decided to text Samantha, who actually responded and agreed to meet with her.
Anyway, all of that info takes us to today whenVariety reportedthat Kim will apparently reprise her role as Samantha in a cameo during theAnd Just Like That…Season 2 finale.
According to Variety, Kim will only “appear in one scene,” with a source telling the outlet that she shot her dialogue in March in NYC, “without seeing or speaking with stars of the series, including Sarah Jessica Parker.”
Apparently, Samantha and Carrie will have a phone conversation.
Also, acclaimedSex and the Citycostume designer Patricia Field, who does not work onAnd Just Like That…, styled Samantha for the scene.
Patricia and Kim both opted out ofAnd Just Like That…, but have remained good friends. In fact, theyworked togetherrecently on Kim’s upcoming Netflix seriesGlamorous.
