The upcomingBarbiemovie , which marks the first time Barbie has been in a live - action movie , has now inspired a whole new descent of Barbie and Ken skirt ( and a dream house ) .

So, I think it goes without saying at this point thatBarbieis the most highly anticipated film of the summer of 2023.

Directed byGreta Gerwigand written by Greta and Noah Baumbach,Barbieis set to follow Barbie (Margot Robbie) as she lives in Barbie Land with Ken (Ryan Gosling) and other Barbies and Kens. However, one day, Barbie decides to take a trip to the real world.

The film hasn’t even been released yet but has already taken the internet by storm.Postersrevealing the various Barbies and Kens went viral, the tagline for the movie createda new Twitter meme, and every singletrailergets peoplemore and more excited.

Basically everything about the movie so far has been better than the last thing that was released, and now,Mattel just dropped a whole new lineof Barbie and Ken dolls, and some houses and cars, inspired by the movie.

Which is honestly so exciting considering the attention to detail Greta, Margot, costume designer Jacqueline Durran, and the entire team who worked onBarbieput into honoring the legacy of Barbie — like, they literally re-created the first outfit Barbie wore when Mattellaunchedthe toy in 1959.
