This is the first meter the 1949 dress has been directly replicated .
If you’re anything like me, your favorite part of the 2023Cannes Film Festivalis witnessing the stunning red carpet looks.
Honestly, I just want an excuse to wear these outfits in my everyday boring life. Or maybe I just want someone to invite me to Cannes.
Until then, I’ll join everyone in raving aboutNatalie Portman’s spot-on replica of a vintage Christian Dior gown.
The dress features a strapless embellished bodice and a stunning layered silk tulle skirt with detailed blue beading running along the ends to create an ombre effect.
The original “Junon” gown was a reference toJuno, the Roman goddess of marriage and fertility. The petal-like design of the skirt was made to mimic the feathers of a peacock, the goddess’s favorite bird.
It was originallydesignedfor Dior’s Fall-Winter 1949-50 collection, and although it has been on display in museums before, it’s no longer available for public viewing.

After seeing Natalie’s near-perfect re-creation, people took to Twitter to praise her incredible homage to this historic piece.
I only know a bit about historic fashion post c.1915 , but god is this wearing apparel ICONIC . I ’m beyond relieved she wore a brilliant refreshment so it can be viewed as the color was meant to be , fitted properly , and without destroying an important historical garment .
