" People that do n’t have it quite literally ca n’t empathise what it ’s like to experience it . When they see it , it ’s scarey . It ’s uncomfortable . There ’s slight you could in reality do to help . It ’s horrifying and heartbreaking . "
This post contains discussion of mental health issues and mental illness.
Let’s get real for a second: People lieall the time. You’ve done it, I’ve done it — and you’ve probably been lied to so many times that you don’t even notice. That is, except for the times when it’s justsoincredibly obvious.
U/Oddity_Cosmicrecentlyaskedthe people of Reddit, “What do people lie about the most?” At the very least, the answers might help keep yourself in check:
1.“If they’ve read the terms and conditions.”
— uracil / PM_ME_COOL_RIFFS
2."‘I’m on my way.'"
— u / Rain_bow_6
3.“How they talk about their lives on social media.”
— u / FunTurnover4976
4.“Age is a big one when people get older. I had a co-worker tell me he was 27, and then, I got invited to his 30th birthday party a few months later. The weird thing was that he was a good-looking dude and didn’t look old for his age or anything like that. I think 30 just hits 20-year-olds the hardest. Being 35 now, it really doesn’t matter too much anymore. I just try to look good for my age.”

5.“Their dick size. I say it’s 3 inches when clearly it’s only 2. Now, that doesn’t sound like a lot, but it is actually a 50% exaggeration, which is quite a lot.”
— u / Moneybraun
6.“Washing hands after using the restroom has to be pretty high on the list. More often than not when using public restrooms, I’ll be washing my hands, and most will flush the toilet and just briskly walk out.”
— uranium / Ok_Display_5985
7.“Just imagine all the little kids saying they are older than 18 in most websites.”
— uracil / Specialist_Ad1654
8.“Their search history.”
— u / Trainerkn
9.“Their financial situation.”
— u / llcucf80
10.“What they think about other people.”
— u / AWildRapBattle
11.“Their acceptance of people with mental health issues. Everyone and their mother wants to tell you they’re here for you and want to help, but when you actually have a crisis, maybe 1% of those people stick around and actually do their best to be supportive. Mental illness is an ugly bastard. People that don’t have it quite literally can’t understand what it’s like to experience it. When they see it, it’s scary. It’s uncomfortable. There’s little you can actually do to help. It’s horrifying and heartbreaking.”

12.“Their height and weight. Mostly due to their insecurities.”
— u / ItzJustMaya
13.“How many hours a day they work. They even lie about it to themselves.”
— u / ElBurksie
14.“Responsibility for their own actions.”
— u / altheasman
15.“About just doing something tomorrow.”
— u / StillAnIntrovert
16.“Religion — and not in the way you’d expect. I don’t believe for a second that 90% of the cardinals or popes have actually been religious. I’m sure a lot of small-town pastors are, but most higher-ups are in this for the power. Just to be clear, this is not a jab at religion or faith — merely at ‘organized religion.’ Believe whatever you want, but if you believe some dude on the other side of the world needs a golden chair and a golden scepter instead of you getting food or medicine, then maybe…don’t?”

17.“Their happy marriage.”
— u / chickinthenicehouse
18."‘That smell isn’t me!'"
— u / Kinetic_Kill_Vehicle
19.“Being happy about big life-changing choices they’ve made.”
— u / paul_rudds_drag_race
20.“If they have heard about something. A band or a book or movie, whatever it happens to be. People are worried about looking ignorant. It’s a hard habit to break but can be a fruitful one if you do; most folks want to share stuff like that that they like.”
