" I think there ’s a photograph of me , and I just have this look of shock and surprisal on my face . "

Rumer Willishad a really hands-on experience while giving birth to her daughter Louetta.

Back in April, Rumer and her partner Derek Richard Thomas welcomed their little girl — right in the middle of their home.

While reflecting on her birthing experience on theInformed Pregnancypodcast, Rumer revealed that she actually got to break her own water.

Rumer explained that her labor experience was quick, dilating “from 2 to 8 inches in about an hour” — but her doula discovered Rumer’s water did not break.

“She was checking me and felt my water bag bulging, but still not popping, which was wild. And so, I was like, ‘Well, should we break it?'” Rumer recalled.

Rumer’s doula said yes — then gave the actor the go ahead to actually do it herself!

“I reached my finger up there, and I’m feeling and it was crazy. I could totally feel this little bag — it feels like a water balloon, but with a bit tougher skin,” she explained.

Rumer continued, “She just said, ‘Okay. On the next contraction, just push against it with your finger,’ and I popped it. I think there’s a photo of me, and I just have this look of shock and surprise on my face.”

From there, Rumer got ready to push, sharing that she “pushed harder than I’ve ever” and it wasn’t long before the baby had arrived!

“It was literally like I pushed, [and] her head was out. I pushed again and her whole body was out,” she said. “There was no pause. There was no pause in between. It wasn’t one of those moments where it was, ‘Oh, your head is out.'”

Rumer says Derek and her midwife caught the baby. After Louetta was untangled from the cord, she was in Rumer’s arms.

Looking back, Rumer says it was “the most ecstatic, joyful moment of my entire life.”

Congratulations Rumer! You can listen to all that she had to sayhere.
