It’s Kaytranada, so the set was nothing less than perfect but that isn’t what caught your attention. What caught everyone’s attention was the woman dancing on the right.
Dancing like no one was watching, dancing like the world was going to end tomorrow, dancing like she was going to set our souls free. That girl is none other than Shay Lia.
For years we’ve all asked ourselves, who is that icon? And recently, Shay came forward to identify herself and answer the questions we’ve always wondered!

Sitting down with Shay, she told us the fame was a shock – she was brand new to Montreal as she had moved there for university but her being at the gig was no surprise as she was already close friends with Kaytranada.

Secondfun fact, Shay had no idea she was going to be in the frame as before then, boiler room sets had been primarily focused on the DJ.
Third fun fact (and maybe the most important), Shay was completely sober in that video. People can have a good time without alcohol or other substances!
Shay has always had a passion for music from a young age when she grew up in Djibouti…
Which leads us to our fourth fun fact: if you’re a fan of Kaytranada you may have seen “featuring Shay Lia” on some of his songs – that is indeed the same person. Since the iconic video, Shay has been focused on her music career, making upwards of 10 songs with Kaytranada alone.
" So when I travel land , I knew I liked sear but it was kind of like an in - the - shower thing ; I did n’t eff I was a songwriter . I pen " Leave Me Alone " and " Chances " with Kaytranada – those and so many other Song . When I realised I could write songs with Kaytranda that ’s how I practised medicine and it gave me more confidence . When we started knead together , it clicked justly forth , he would just send me beats ; were n’t in the studio apartment together . We were two kids that did n’t have the budget . So I would post him whatever and he would endeavor to put it together . But we did it . I wrote the song , he changed some stuff and boom . I was still in school day begin my degree and he was travelling the macrocosm . And now it ’s all full dress circle "
