" Yes , the youth dreams a lot . They desire everything in one mortal . "

Sima Aunty is back for another round of matchmaking in Season 3 of Netflix’sIndian Matchmaking, out now. While the reception of the show itself is split, there’s one thing that’s objectively clear: The show has a 0% successful match rate. And Sima Aunty doesn’t deny it.

While some loveIndian Matchmakingas another one of reality TV ’s date display , otherscriticize itfor reinforcing casteist stereotype andwhitewashingarranged marriages — especially as Netflix ’s description for the show calls it an " privileged face at the customs in a modern era . "

Ina recent interviewwith Suchin Mehrotra for the Hindustan Times, Sima Aunty talked about the show’s success rate (or lack thereof), her take on what her millennial clients want in a partner, and whether or not she felt her female clients were “more impressive” than her male clients.

If you haven’t yet seenIndian Matchmaking, each eight-episode season follows Mumbai marriage consultant Sima Taparia — better (and more affectionately) known as Sima Aunty — as she helps her single clients find love in both the US, UK, and India.

Her typical matchmaking process includes three steps: meeting her clients at their homes, learning about their criteria for a partner, and meeting their parents. The unofficial fourth step of her process — viewers would joke — is then telling her clients to lower their expectations.

While those who watch the show have no problem calling out Sima Aunty’s matchmaking process…

…they also recognize that she can only do so much with what she’s got.

She then explained that people need to be more realistic, as you won’t be able to find someone who suits 100% of your criteria in the real world. “If you get 60-70%, you should be happy,” she remarked. “Two people have to make that 100% together.”

Beyond the general expectations of today’s “youth,” SuchinaskedSima Aunty if she agreed with a pattern he and many viewers have noticed about her clients: The women on the show are typically accomplished and successful, while the men on the show are often unimpressive and seemingly confused.

Indian Matchmaking is my favorite show because Sima Aunty has a dire batting average and seemingly exist to fit beautiful , successful women with men who look like sausage , and then harangue said women for having standards like “ makes me laugh ”

The girls on Indian Matchmaking just be like “ I want a husband who is nice to me and who wo n’t make me desire to vomit during sex ” and sima aunty is like “ y’ all kid and your shag demand , do n’t piss me off ! ”

All through Indian Matchmaking I could n’t serve but notice , while the woman were looking for a teammate for themselves , the man were search for a married woman for their parent .

in Amerindic matchmaking sima is always telling the charwoman to settle and adjust and not focus on physical drawing card but Vikash is rejecting people bec they do n’t verbalise the brand of white washed New Jersey dialect Hindi bec what if she actually has an Amerind accent

Perhaps predictably, Sima Aunty did not agree, calling both the men and women on her show impressive. Regardless of gender, she told Suchin she finds every person to be different and that her job is simply to help them. “If they’re confused, I guide them,” she said. “I treat them all like my sons and daughters.”

As for the show’s 0% successful match rate, Sima Aunty broke the fourth wall andrevealed thatNetflix only wanted to depict the process of Indian matchmaking in the show. “In five months do you think it’s possible that everyone will get married? No. It would be a miracle,” she commented.

“You have to understand, this is areality show,” she said. However, if it wasn’t a reality show, Sima Aunty is confident she could have matched all eight couples. Ultimately, she emphasized that the purpose of the show was to give a glimpse into the process and nothing more.

In the end, Sima Aunty reflected on how the success ofIndian Matchmaking— the show, not the match rate — has completely changed her life and allowed her to pursue new things, from more shows to brand endorsements. And for any new opportunities that may come her way next, “I’ll happily do it,” she said.
