" It ’s in truth , truly perplexing to me . I just have n’t had something like this happen in my career . "
It’s Sunday, the Lord’s day. And we have truly been blessed.
Why? BecauseTaylor Swiftfinally came to her senses and announced she’s making “Cruel Summer” a single — almost four years after its release.
I have been telling this legend to make that fucking masterpiece a single for ages. In 2019, I wrote the Pulitzer-snubbed piece,“I Can’t Stress This Enough: Taylor Swift’s ‘Cruel Summer’ Needs To Be Her Next Single.”
And when I got the chance to meet her (for the second time 😭) during theLoverera, I told this Grammy-winning superstar to her face to make that song a single!!!!!!
And I’ve been nonstop tweeting about it since she put that song out:
Taylor talked about her decision to make “Cruel Summer” a single at her show last night in Pittsburgh. “So, basically, ‘Cruel Summer’ was on theLoveralbum. That album was out four years ago. ‘Cruel Summer’ — that song was my pride and joy on that album. That was my favorite song.”
🏟 ️| Taylor apportion with the crowd how " Cruel Summer " was her superbia and joy when the dismissal of Lover was planned and she can not conceive what ’s materialize in the year 2023 and that her label decided it has to become a singlepic.twitter.com/ahu1yIBpxf
“You know you have conversations before the album comes out. Everybody around weighs in on what they think should be singles. I was finally, finally about to have my favorite song become the single off ofLover,” Taylor said.
“I’m not trying to blame the global pandemic that we had, but that is something that happened that stopped ‘Cruel Summer’ from ever being a single. So, what’s happening right now, thanks to you —and honestly no one understands why this is happening — you guys have streamed ‘Cruel Summer’ so much right now in 2023 that it’s, like, rising on the streaming charts so crazy. My label just decided to just make it the next single.”
“It’s truly, truly perplexing to me. I just haven’t had something like this happen in my career. Thank you to anyone who’s been listening to that song, like, 500 times a day — because that was my favorite one! I just had to say that — you know, because it’s crazy.”
UGH, I can’t wait for that inevitable music video we get.
You can stream"Cruel Summer"everywhere now. BYE!
