The Original Beef of Chicagoland crew is back and ready to change Chicago’s culinary game. On Monday, FX dropped the trailer for Season 2 ofThe Bear, and Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and his team look as stressed as ever.
With stellar performances from the likes ofAyo Edebiri,Ebon Moss-Bachrach, andAbby Elliott, alongside whip-smart dialogue and gorgeous shots of Chicago,The Bearquickly became one of last year’s surprise hit TV shows.
White even went on to winGolden GlobeandSAG Awardsfor his performance as aNew Yorkchef who returns home to run his brother’s struggling Italian beef shop. Thanks to a team of cooks and staff who aren’t quite down with his well-meaning but pretentious antics, Carmy quickly realizes he bit off more than he can chew. (Pun obviously intended.)
Fortunately, it appears Season 2 may just be as mouth-watering as the Italian beef sandwiches that aresuddenly now trendy, thanks in part to the show. Heads up: spoilers ahead.
The trailer appears to pick right up from last season with Carmy and Sydney (Edebiri) spearheading a new restaurant concept in six — only six! — months. In case you forgot, Season 1 ended with The Original Beef of Chicagoland crew scrapping their longstanding Italian beef shop for something new and seemingly cutting edge.
The whole crew is back, with Carmy’s sister Sugar (Elliott) appearing to take on more responsibility with the family business while veteran cooks Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas) and Ebraheim (Edwin Lee Gibson) attend a fancy culinary school. Don’t worry, Richie (Moss-Bachrach), Neil (Matty Matheson), Marcus (Lionel Boyce), and Jimmy (Oliver Platt) are all back too.
Better yet,Bob Odenkirk will appear in Season 2in a guest role, though he didn’t pop up in the trailer.
Molly Gordondoes make her first appearance in the trailer as a new character, who seems to have some sort of previous relationship with Carmy. What their relationship was — and what it will become — is yet to be seen.
All in all, it’s good to see Carmy is beginning Season 2 on a high note. “I’m trying to start from a place of positivity,” he says in the trailer.
