" I ’m presentable . "

Sarah Jessica Parkerspoke candidly about how she physically views herself and why she decided against the plastic surgery route.

SJP stopped byThe Howard Stern Showearlier this week to discuss life, her career, the latest season ofAnd Just Like That, and more. And in the midst of the interview, SJP got real about aging in Hollywood and whether or not she finds herself attractive.

She admitted that when she got a leading role alongsideSteve Martinin the 1991 filmL.A. Story, she believed it was Steve’s way of saying, “I think you’re attractive. You can play these kinds of parts.”

Despite feeling that she was getting a confidence boost by taking on the role, SJP revealed that she never really viewed herself, physically, in high regard.

Howard started to ask her, “When you look in the mirror, you don’t see a good-looking human being?” But before he could even finish the question, Sarah Jessica made a face, as if feeling beautiful was a foreign concept to her.

“I mean, I’m presentable,” she responded. “I don’t really like looking at myself. I never have.”

“I like a fitting and getting into costume, but I don’t know. I think I’m fine.”

While she’s never felt the “need” to do those procedures, SJP does see a dermatologist, and she enjoys doing skin peels and things like that. Sarah Jessica said she “missed out” on getting an “old-fashioned facelift” but is okay with that decision because she’s heard horror stories.

“I do understand why people make that choice, because there is so much emphasis, put on primarily women, about looks.”

She added, “I remember when we first went on the air about the new season, and there were just so many endless articles about aging and aging gracefully, or Sarah Jessica’s hair is gray — first of all, it’s not, but who cares. But I’m sitting next toAndy Cohen, whose head is covered in gray hair, and you’ve not mentioned that at all.”

She added that she understands the pressure that people are under, especially women. With all the chatter and opinions that take place in today’s society, SJP said that she’s not judging anyone’s decisions, and they should do whatever “makes them feel better walking out the door.”
