If you haven’t watched HBO’s new noir-dramaThe Idoljust yet, there’s two things to know. First, the show was created byEuphoriacreatorSam Levinson, Reza Fahim, andThe Weeknd.
Second, the star of the series,Lily-Rose Depp, smokes excessively in the show. Her character Jocelyn smoked so much in the premiere episode thather habits have already become a meme.
Jocelyn has even caught the attention of comedianChloe Fineman, who stars onSaturday Night Live,where she’s known for her killer impressions.
Chloe’s signature impressions includeReese Witherspoon,Jennifer Coolidge,Nicole Kidman, and Drew Barrymore.
She even went onThe Drew Barrymoreshow in 2020 to talk about her impression with Drew herself.
Now, Chloe has turned her attention to Lily-Rose. On Thursday, Chloe uploaded an impression of Lily-Rose inThe IdoltoInstagram, and it’s as wacky and wild as all her impressions.
In the show, Jocelyn is a famous pop star who is beginning a career comeback when she gets caught up in the mysterious world of Tedros (The Weeknd), a nightclub owner.
The aesthetic of the show is highly erotic and brimming with noir, including revealing clothing, drinking, and smoking. Lots of smoking.
All this to say, Chloe’s take on Jocelyn really leans into the character’s elusive nature.
You have to watch the impression (andThe Idoltoo) to fully understand, because there’s really no way to explain that Chloe wraps a scarf over her head and starts to sing “Believe” by Cher, “Pocket of Sunshine” by Natasha Bedingfield, and “Hands” by Jewel.
Anyway, the highlight of Chloe’s impression is definitely the amount of cigarettes she’s holding.
At one point, she’s holding five lit cigarettes.
Turns out Lily-Rose has not only seen Chloe’s impression, but she’s also a big fan.
The actor commented on Chloe’s Instagram Thursday, saying “I’m loling 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ….. and ur makeup looks bomb.”
She wasn’t the only fan of Chloe’s performance. Chrissy Teigen also commented “The bra lolllll,” which was a reference to the fact that Chloe at one point is wearing her bra on backward and inside out.
Come to think of it, Chloe’s impression is so good that she better be cast in Season 2 ofThe Idol. Maybe Jocelyn makes her way toSaturday Night Live?Here’s hoping.
