" It ’s very jarring to have your first recollective - terminal figure family relationship trend on Twitter when you go bad up . "

If you’ve been on TikTok, there’s a big ol' chance you’ve come acrossChris Olsenbefore. The 24-year-old has over 10 million followers on the app and has become known for collabing with all sorts of famous faces (hint:Meghan Trainor).

So, BuzzFeed caught up with the influencer amid his collaboration with Head and Shoulders to talk about relationships, sobriety, and that glorious (dandruff-free) head of hair.

1.What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

The literal first affair I do in the dawn —   alas , I acknowledge this is n’t a in force thing — is tramp over and insure my headphone . I see what ’s come through in the break of day and do a fiddling whorl .   I keep one eye open . I   can barely even open my heart by the time I ’m doing that . ButI do a little scroll - roll of what ’s going on in the world , check that nothing crazy happened overnight — like whenTaylor SwiftannouncedSpeak Now   ( Taylor ’s Version),and I wake up six hours after it happened . I wish I had been awake for when it happen .

And then the next guild of business is I go on a little walk , pledge some coffee — Flight Fuel , which is my coffee brand — and either get a piffling pastry or breakfast   sandwich , depending   on my mood that aurora .

2.What’s one thing on your bucket list?

I ’m about to do it : It’ssolo travelaround the reality . I need to have anEat Pray Lovemoment and I ’m fail to do that this summertime . But I call up bear on to do that too . Even after [ this summer ] , it ’ll continue to be on the bucket — to hit all of these unlike areas .

3.Who is the last person you messaged?

4.Have you ever been starstruck?

Yes , yes . I ofttimes am starstruck . I approximate the last one I can observe is when my friendMeghan Trainorwas doingJimmy Fallonthe same night as Taylor Swift . I was like two feet away from Taylor as she hap down the hall . When she left , she roll cheerio to everyone — and she did beckon cheerio in my direction . So we ’re friends , basically .

5.Who’s the funniest celeb you’ve met?

There are obviously funny comedians , who are literally famous for being mirthful . But [ this ] may be a predictable answer for me , butI recall Meghan is hilarious just being who she is . I think she ’s so funny .   So , her !

6.What’s one thing about being an influencer that people might not know goes into the job?

One thing is when I was post on social medium as a veritable somebody to my friends , it kind of felt the exact same as when I begin posting to a lot of people . I still think about the same things . I go for all of my friend care and gloss on it , andyou’re still always just hope that you fetch a little mo of pleasure to multitude — it ’s just at a much larger scale leaf .

I used to recall that when you got verified that your app would look different , but it ’s all the same . Everything is the exact same . You still just DM your friends funny meme and stuff like that . It ’s all very normal , you just have a caboodle more of a bigger audience .

7.You’ve become a red carpet fixture and I spotted you when I was at the VMAs. What’s the most surprising thing about attending events like the Grammys and the Oscars?

Not to full pull back the velum , but being there is much less glamorous — as I ’m sure you do it — than what you would adopt on the screen . They do such a beautiful job at establish it this beautiful , perfectly well - done event for the cameras — which is obviously the goal because that ’s where most people are see it .

But when you ’re there , it can be kind of nerve-racking . You do n’t know where to go a portion of the meter . When you ’re an influencer — at least me , whenI’m a broken - tier celebrity — the event is not for me , so I well figure out where I ’m guess to go and what to do from there . Usually at a lot of these case , I ’m more stressed out than excited to be there . But I always cue myself in those moment of strain to bring back the gratitude , really take in where I am , and be emotional about that .

IT JUST KEEPS GETTIN CRAZIER ! ! I love you ! ! You bewilder this#sober#slay#oscars#cannes

15 Things We Learned with Chris Olsen

8.You’re over five years sober, congrats — why is it important to you to share your sobriety journey?

When I was get sober , specially at 19 — except for the hoi polloi in my treatment marrow , who were my geezerhood , I did n’t live any other young people who had get serious at that detail . To really stay put to it felt like a far - off dreaming and something that just does n’t seem to pass off . Very few citizenry can be successfully drab , particularly before 21 and before they ’re even legally able-bodied to be sober . But then , when I did do it , it was the unspoiled decisiveness I could have ever made .

There were so many mass who were in my treatment center , in their 30s , who were like , " If I just got solemn when I was your age , I would be so much farther along than I am now . " And soI’ve try out to remember that and show people that you could do it at a immature age . I mean , none of what is happening in my life now would be happening if I had n’t stupefy grave . So I think it ’s just really significant to share , to be capable to show mass that it ’s possible . And also to go along to hold myself accountable to it . There is a reason that I have this platform . mostly it is for fun and to bring joy — but if I do n’t utilize it for some kind of content , then I ’m doing a disservice .

BuzzFeed : I feel like influencing and partying are often linked together , so it ’s coolheaded to see someone sober .

A closeup of Chris at a red carpet event

Yes . Especially being a young person who displace to LA , set out influence , had a effective income , it would have been so easy to be like , I should be able to handle this , look at all the good poppycock in my animation right now . But I ’ve always remind myself that all of the full stuff will go by if I decide to go back in that guidance .

9.How have your thoughts on being in a public relationship changed over the years?

It ’s pretty common noesis that at 25 , your   prefrontal cerebral cortex to the full develops . There ’s such a conflict from age 22 to 25 . I was 22 when the kinship [ with Ian Paget ] started . Now , I just cognise how much more I want to keep to myself . Throughout 22 to 25 — we breach up right when I turn 24 — I remember I was just so ready , going with the flow , and share things . I had n’t experienced being in a public kinship or anything like that . So I was like , This is all very fun and exciting .

I ’ve get word that moving forward , I ’ll want to keep [ my kinship ] a trivial individual . Becauseit ’s very jarring to have your first farsighted - terminal figure kinship trend on Twitter when you break up . Like , that ’s not normal!Having your first long - full term family relationship destruction is hard enough , and then having it be this news story , which is the bighearted public press day of your spirit , was also very hard .

I recognize , now living a public living , there will be a lot of people who will desire to speak about my relationships — if I am to get into one later in liveliness — and that ’s whole fine . But I do n’t trust I ’m going to deal it in that way . But also , who knows what the future guard ?

BuzzFeed : I remember one of your first video that went viral … it ’s a very unlike animate being to already being an established figure and like communion .

It ’s also unlike for every couple . I remember after we broke up , I was front at all these other couples and I was like , Damn , it ’s gon na be tough , get ready . But no , there are some twain who really do it well and communicate through it . I just conceive that we were in very different place in our living . Yeah , it ’s quite the experience .

10.Is anything off limits on your TikTok?

I endeavor to stay capable . I think it interchange every day . Some day , I ’m gon na require to portion out a dotty thing that happened to me — other days , I ’m like , I’m gon na talk about that with my friends . I do this series where I share my therapy sessions . Sometimes they ’re too deep to be shared . Sometimes it ’s like , No thing were encounter this week and that ’s not something to share for social medium . And other metre they ’re humorous and I enjoy share them .

It ’s really off or miss , but I attempt to never completely cut something off , as of now . Also , I cerebrate boundaries are a wonderful , beautiful , healthy thing . And so if boundaries ever follow up in the future , I ’ll honor them . But for now , I recall there are no bound that are aneverso far .

11.Was there a moment in your friendship with Meghan Trainor where you thought “Oh yeah, we’re going to be friends”?

I pulled up to her mansion and her entire family unit amount out to the front steps — and just like stood there , waiting for me , smile . From literally the first sentence that I allow for the car and said hello to all of them , I was like , Oh , this is great .

I ’ve puzzle out with a lot of celebrities at this point , and sometimes there is that separation , where it ’s like , Great , we ’re ferment together , we ’re gon na get some videos done , and I have maybe five minutes with you total . With her , it immediately felt up like , Oh , we can fall out , we can cool down . There ’s a stack to mouth about . It just it feel so easy so early on , and we had so much in vernacular .

12.Have you ever talked about how forthcoming Meghan is with her personal life?

Yes and no . Sometimes we ’d be talking about what we want to do on TikTok that week , and she would , like , say these things she wanted to share — which I ’m like , " Are you sure?“Like , arbitrarily she has shared multiple videos about having anal fissures . Those are all things where I ’m like , " Do you need to carry that ? " And she ’s like , " Yeah , should I not ? " I ’m like , " No , I intend , go for it ! "

Anytime you share something vulnerable , it makes at least one person out there experience less alone — because we ’re all going through the same things at all times . So it was n’t really like a progress of , like , start out share thing , be more vulnerable . It came very promiscuous to her , which is why her and I being Quaker come so easily to us .

It ’s been a great learning bend for me over the past two years , too — how things can be spun , how you sometimes have to be prepared for something like that to be taken out of linguistic context . And you have to be set up for people to just see the headline and not even register more into the story .

13.How did your Head & Shoulders collaboration come about?

It just palpate like a really natural partnership . I struggled with dandruff when I was in middle school day into mellow school . It ’s something I ’ve gone in and out of throughout my whole life . When we came together to talk about puzzle out on something , it felt A-one organic fertilizer . I feel like I ’m always talking about vulnerable things , or deal my the true on societal medium . So talking about how I do n’t need to be in self-denial over dandruff or talking about how it ’s not even something to really be ashamed of — Head & Shoulders has been really helpful throughout that whole summons . It felt super rightfield to do and it feel like such a nifty connection to have . We ’ve been working together for a while and it ’s been super soft every dance step of the style .

14.What’s your favorite Head & Shoulders product?

I utilise their teetotal scalp tending assemblage most often — they have a two - in - one and they also have a shampoo and a conditioner . I really quickly noticed the difference anytime I have a flare up . Those are the one I tend to be reach for the most often , that are commonly in the shower with me .

15.Is there anything especially unique about this relaunch of Head & Shoulders that you wanted to highlight?

They changed their rule to a new and improved formula . My mom used it in the past , before this formula change , and she always loved it before . I think the fact that it ’s even better only live to show the work that they continue to put into it . I’ve definitely comment the deviation since using it and I bet onward to continue to use it .

Thank you to Chris and Head & Shoulders!
