For those of you who may not be on TikTok (or have a vastlyyy different FYP than me), there’s a new trend sweeping the platform right now: beige flags. Rather than talk about their blatant red flags or green flags when it comes to dating and relationships, people are sharing their partner’s (and their own) “beige flags.”
You might be wondering: “What is a beige flag?” I’m glad you asked! Based on the TikTok trend, it’s neither a red flag nor a green flag. It’s more of a quirk or idiosyncrasy that your partner may notice about you and find a bit unusual. No, it’s not something severe like screaming at waitstaff or punching dry wall; it’s more of a unique habit.

If you’re still not sure, let me try to help. Let’s say that your partner often falls asleep in the evenings when you two are watching TV together. They’ll be knocked out, mouth open, and snoring, but if you change the channel or put something else on, they’ll immediately sit up, catch an attitude, and declare, “I was watching that!” If you try to tell them they were sleeping, they will adamantly deny it. That’s their beige flag.
Or, perhaps your partner has really cold feet, and when you’re in bed and they want to warm them up, they’ll just stick them on your back and use your body heat. That’s their beige flag.
Or, maybe you’re ~self-aware~ and you know that your own beige flag is that you can’t keep secrets and consistently ruin surprises. For instance, you helped your partner’s brother plan a surprise trip to stay with you guys, and not even 24 hours after making the plans, you slipped up and told your partner you made a dinner reservation “for their brother’s first night in town.”
