" have nerveless wearing apparel for all sizes seems like a moderately basic asking . "

It’s no secret that fashion can be an extremely exclusive industry. In a perfect world, art is for everyone but realistically, the fashion world can be SNOBBY.

So here are 11 times when major designers and fashion houses turned their noses up at some of the biggest names in Hollywood for literally terrible reasons:

1.Zendaya andLaw Roachwere turned away by many fashion houses when they first started working together.

Because of this, the pair decided to showcase the work of up-and-coming designers. This move actually forced them to be more creative with Zendaya’s looks — which in turn led to her, Law, and the smaller brands they propped up, like Miuniku, reaching higher statusin the fashion world.

2.Despite always fitting the brand’s image,Kristen Stewartwas declined by Lanvin until the day she “aged up”.

Tara Swennen reached out to the fashion house about every two months, hoping for the day that “the clouds opened up” and Lanvin would agree to dress Kristen Stewart. However, in true Kristen ~fashion~, when the brand finally did consider her old enough to possibly wear their clothes Kristen told her stylist, “Nah.”

3.Not a single designer offered to dressGabourey Sidibefor her first huge red carpet, so she took matters into her own hands.

Gabourey ended up attendingthat event and others in gownsthat she purchased herself from the affordable plus-sized brand, Torrid.

4.Aidy Bryant expressed her frustrations with not being dressed fairly, if at all, by different designers as a plus-sized woman, and her complaints worked out in her favour.

In an interview following this exchange,Aidy Bryant stated, “I think it’s a different experience for plus-size women in film and television to get clothes for events… It’s just not as welcoming for us to get cool clothes that are like equal in glamour… I am young and I am cool and I want to wear cool clothes!”

5.In a similar situation, Leslie Jones also used Twitter to share her frustrations with not being dressed by designers.

While Leslie went on toregularly collaboratewith Christian Siriano for many red carpets, she did end the original occurrence with the damningtweet, “What a difference a tweet makes. Should I name the designers that didn’t look out? Put y’all ass on blast. You will not get my love later.”

6.Gucci didn’t want to lend Rachel Bloom a dress, so she bought her own.

In an interview about her look on the Emmys red carpet, Rachelcandidly expressed, “Gucci’s not lending me a dress… I did buy this dress and I can resell it… I’ve said in an interview before sometimes it’s hard to get places to lend me dresses because I’m not like a size zero, but also I can afford it so it’s okay.”

7.Megan Mullally couldn’t get any fashion house to dress her, so she also purchased her own designer gown.

During that interview, she continued, “Alexander McQueen did send me two dresses that didn’t work out, but this is an Alexander McQueen dress I bought online… I’m actually glad I don’t have to deal with a lot of different personalities. I can just go online and be like, ‘I like that one!'”

8.Cardi B was rejected by designers for not being enough of an “It girl”.

All of this only helped to motivate Cardi further though, in an interview she said, “It’s just something you’ve got to prove to people, just like music… A lot of music people didn’t want to work with me at first, and you’ve just got to prove yourself.”

9.Bebe Rexha took to Instagram to call out the fashion houses that refused to design a Grammy look for her.

After this video,a lot of luxury designers, including Christian Siriano, then offered to dress Bebe — a response that she “didn’t expect”. Sheended up workingwith Monsoori for the event and told interviewers on the red carpet, “To me, this is my Cinderella moment.”

10.When she first stepped into the high-fashion world, Kim Kardashian was refused by just about every fashion house.

Givenchy’s creative director, Riccardo Tisci, has also mentioned that working with Kim Kardashian at the beginning of her fashion journey was difficult. He mentioned in aninterviewthat, “Not everyone was positive about it… I was proud when she received the cover of AmericanVogue. Four or five years ago, no fashion house would touch her. But Kim represents the woman of today.”

11.Beyoncé revealed that there was a time when high-end designers refused to dress Destiny’s Child.

She revealed that after being “rejected from every showroom in New York”, her mother took it upon herself to team up with Beyoncé’s late uncle to design and sew all of the group’s costumes. Beyoncéeven went on to say, “My mother actually designed my wedding dress, my prom dress, my first CFDA Award dress, my first Grammy dress, and the list goes on and on.”
